The MB-9515A Adjustable Cargo Trailer (ACT) is a material handling trailer built to carry heavy, sensitive cargo across flight lines, aboard ships, and directly into military aircraft.
Independent hydraulics at all four corners align the deck with an aircraft ramp's height and angle.
The trailer is internal air transportable in the V-22, H-53, C-130, C-17, and C-5, so it can travel with its cargo wherever the mission requires.
Military and commercial customers use the Adjustable Cargo Trailer (ACT) to transport general cargo, 436L pallets, munitions, and the F-35 engine power module in a specialized Power Module Transport skid.
We build every trailer in America with domestically sourced assemblies and components.
The MB-9515A was developed for the Joint Strike Fighter program, which needed a way to deliver the F-35’s 7,500 lb main engine module to aircraft carriers at sea.
Instead of repairing engines aboard ship, crews could replace the main engine module, which the V-22 transported on a Dixequip trailer.
To earn that role, the MB-9515A went through extensive evaluation by NAVAIR Test and Evaluation using the V-22 Cargo Lab mock-up model, by the F-35 Joint Program Office in Lakehurst, NJ, and by Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11 (MALS-11) during actual missions.
It is now in fleet service.
The deck lowers to 26.75 inches and raises to 35.5 inches, matching the rear loading height of the V-22 and H-53.
A manual hydraulic pump and centralized operator controls on the left side of the trailer adjust deck height, tilt (front to rear and side to side), and side-shift adjustments.
The hydraulically actuated conveyor deck shifts up to 2 inches in either direction from center, helping crews align cargo with the centerline of the V-22 and other aircraft. The deck locks in the centered position for transport.
Galvanized cargo rollers on roller bearings make it easy to move uniform loads up to 10,300 lb between aircraft and vehicles.
A fold-down removable winch at the front center of the frame carries 35 feet of usable synthetic line with a 21,700 lb breaking strength, ready to load an F-35 Power Module Transport Skid or a fully loaded 463L pallet.
Operators can hydraulically adjust each wheel’s height to level the trailer on uneven ground or align it with aircraft ramps, vehicles, docks, and freight doors.
Fold-down pallet restraints and D-rings are located on each side and at the front and rear of the trailer, compliant with MIL-STD-209.
Integrated fork pockets allow the trailer to be lifted and positioned by forklift when needed.
The control station includes a parking brake lock lever and quick release.
Puncture-free tires deliver higher load capacity, minimal maintenance, and low operating cost.
We hot-dip galvanize the steel frame after fabrication for long-term protection in shipboard and coastal environments.
A removable tow bar with a 3-inch pintle ring stows securely under the frame, and a rear pintle hook lets multiple trailers connect to a single tow vehicle.
